Pressure Vessels Wall Thickness Calculation
For Hydrogen pressure vessels:
Thickness = [Operating pressure (N/mm2) * Diameter (mm)] / [2 * (Design stress - Operating pressure)]
For stainless steel:
Design Stress = 165 N/mm2
Operating Pressure = (Absolute pressure - Atmospheric pressure) * 1.1
Absolute Pressure = 200 bar
Operating Pressure = (200 - 1) * 1.1 = 218.9 bar = 21.89 N/mm2
Thickness = [21.89 * 2000] / [2 * (165 - 21.89)] = 153 mm
Adding 1 mm for corrosion purposes: Thickness = 154 mm
For Oxygen Tank:
Applying the same methodology as above but substituting with:
Absolute Pressure = 30 bar
Diameter = 4000 mm
Thickness = [3.19 * 4000] / [2 * (165 - 3.19)] = 39.5 mm
Adding 1 mm for corrosion purposes: Thickness = 40.5 mm
